Dorrigo

An hour’s drive from Coffs Harbour is the World Heritage listed rainforest of Dorrigo. Here you’ll find some really unforgettable sights including waterfalls and caverns (as well as being surrounded by the glorious flora and fauna you’d expect of a rainforest). We reckon it’s best experienced with your phone on silent to really disconnect from the busy-ness of life.

Port Stephens

Just under 200 kilometres north-east of Sydney, Port Stephens provides visitors with everything from whales and dolphins in the water (you can even swim with the dolphins) to massive dunes to play on and slide down. When you get a bit peckish, you can enjoy some of the freshest and most delicious seafood in NSW, too.

Hunter Valley

Wine. All of the wine.

Hunter Valley is particularly well-known and renowned for its Shiraz and Semillon, and has more wineries, vineyards, spas and restaurants than you’ll know what to do with. We suggest doing a tour of the region on horseback - it’s a great, authentic way to take it all in.

For the kids, check out the Hunter Valley Zoo and/or visit the Hunter Valley Gardens - your kids will love the Storybook garden there. There are lots of bushwalking and mountain biking tracks, too.

Blue Mountains

From the gargantuan Three Sisters rock formation to the Jenolan Caves, Wentworth Falls and the countless lookouts that provide picturesque views, you’ll struggle to find enough time to tick everything off. While there, make sure to visit Scenic World - its railways will take you through some of the best sights the Blue Mountains has to offer.

Week-away holidays

Byron Bay

It’s not just a great spot for surfing; there are some brilliant landscapes to see as well as some great open-air markets, solid dining options and great shopping spots. You can also do some whale-watching if you’re lucky, and its crystal-blue waters are begging to be scuba’d.

Snowy Mountains

In winter, you have a few options if you’d like a skiing or snowboarding holiday - Perisher, Thredbo and Charlotte Pass offer fantastic runs for all levels. If the old isn’t really your thing, when the snow finally melts around October it uncovers some really beautiful scenery you can experience on the back of a horse a la ‘Man From Snowy River’ or, if you prefer wheels, via one of the many mountain biking trails.
