What’s the issue?

Righto, so long story short, in the first half of 2020 there was a slowing down in car production worldwide. Off the back of this, computer chip (semiconductor) manufacturers who would normally be focusing on the auto industry shifted their attention over to personal electronics instead.

Then, once things headed back to normal in the back end of 2020, there wasn’t nearly enough of an allocation of computer chips available to meet the auto industry’s demand.

When’s it going to be sorted out?

While it was speculated that this chip shortage problem would be solved in the second half of 2021 which would of course mean the extreme new car shortage issue would also be rectified, it is now being said that it’s going to continue to be a problem into 2022.

Are all car manufacturers affected?

Thankfully, not every brand across the globe has been negatively affected by this ongoing chip shortage.

The following manufacturers are the ones you might need to make an order as soon as possible if you’re planning on taking it for a long, well-deserved drive once lockdowns are lifted (or have revised their models to cater for the issue):
